Probably all of us have heard by now about the alarming signs, such as the receding tide, that thousands of people did not distinguish just before the fatal tsunami struck on December 26, 2004. Perhaps the most tragic aspect of the disaster is that thousands upon thousands of lives could have been saved—if only people had recognized the warning signs!

Horrifying disasters and criminal acts are increasing at a frightening rate by the year. Many people live with the dark dread that the next disaster or crime might strike their family. We awaken every morning to a world in crisis; “Homeland Security” cannot solve the problems looming on the horizon.

But the Bible foretells these exact conditions existing just before the end of the world. It warns what is next: “…Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” Luke 21:26-27
